With 2016 just around the corner I personally feel that it is time to review the year that has been.
Some people let the year go by and don’t really notice the amazing things they have done and achieved, or how they have grown. I think this time of year presents a great opportunity to reflect, and feel gratitude for all you have accomplished.
The year in review
Whilst there are many more questions that you could ask yourself, here are some to get you started:
1. If I had goals:
- Did I achieve them?
- If yes, how did it feel, was it everything I had expected?
- If not, why not? Did things change, remember life is dynamic, did the goal no longer apply? Did I not base my goals on my values?
2. What lessons did I learn along the way?
3. What surprises came my way?
4. What unexpected challenges did I face? And how did I handle them?
5. How have I changed as a person?
6. Am I proud of what I have learnt and achieved?
7. Was I present in my life? And if not how can I be more present in my life?
8. What things can I do better next year?
9. When things didn’t go as planned, was it due to me not following my heart and my values?
10. What success did I have?
11. What failures did I have? (Remember failures are nothing but feedback!)
When I review 2015 I can clearly see that it has been one of enormous personal growth and learning. I feel I have become more conscious and aware of not just myself but this amazing place we call planet Earth.
I have found that by being reflective I can realign myself to what is important to me. Sometimes we can feel disconnected from our soul purpose and make decisions that are not true to self. If this is the case we need to understand why; did we base our decisions on another’s wants and desires? If yes, why did we feel that they were more important than our own?
What’s in store for 2016?
For 2016 take time to decide what you want to achieve:
- What do you want more of?
- What do you want less of?
- Who do you want to be this time next year?
And above all else, know that as this year is about to close, and a new one opens that you have done the best you could with the resources available to you. Do not carry baggage from this year into next. Let go and forgive where necessary. Make 2016 the best year yet.
